any one else have a Bounty Hunter Fun Finder Compact Metal Detector?
i want a metal detector and i was wondering if this is a good beginner metal detector.
My son and I have the Bounty Hunter "Treasure Hunter" and have used it in Colorado, Oregon, and Alaska to find both silver and gold. We can testify to the quality of our particular model, and assume that most of the Bounty Hunter line is comparable to what we use. I think you can be confident with your choice. I would just recommend that you get the best option you can afford. It is always easier to save a little bit longer and get a better model than to buy one and then start the savings plan all over again until you can afford to buy the one you should have bought instead. Metal Detector - What features are important in 1st time purchase?
My husband has always wanted a metal detector - I have decided to purchase one for Father's Day as a gift. Can I get a decent one for about $300? What features are most important in buying one of these? I do not know enough about these to make an informed decision. He would be an amateur tresure hunter, but I would like him to be able to "grow" with the device - that is - not out-row it too soon!

You can buy an inexpensive metal detector, but your husband probably won't have a pleasant time with it. The cheap ones don't work all that well and will be discouraging for any level of user, including a first timer. Whites produces some of the best metal detectors on the market. The link is below.
